Domaine Claude et Christophe Bleger
A land of contrasts, Alsace enjoys a great diversity of terroirs and landscapes.
Gifted for its vine culture, it is endowed with a dry and temperate climate, complex geology, favorable soils and an ideal exposure for its vineyards.
Claude and Christophe's estate is located in Orschwiller, in the very heart of the Alsace wine route and the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle. From 1630, vines and wines for Domaine Bléger have been a long family history, their wines express the slow, extended ripening of the grapes resulting an elegant, complex aromas and flavors trying to perpetuate family traditions. Their 9 hectares of vineyards spread across 4 villages and around thirty different plots which allow the production of the whole range of Alsacian wines, 20 wines per year. The Alsace wines come from 7 main grape varieties: Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir.
Claude and Christophe want to express the influence of different terroirs on their wines, their philosophy is that the wine is in the grape, they never use fertilizer, they let vines live by themselves, with small yield, harvesting by hand, all the wine quality comes from what they do with the vine.
